Hello Everyone and welcome. Thank you for stopping by last week. It was a pleasure seeing new and familiar faces. I can’t thank you enough for your support for my book, ‘Awakened by Fate.’
Today I am featuring my review of Nico J. Genes‘ ‘Reverie Girl. If you read ‘Magnetic Reverie‘ you’re going to love this one.
This is the second installment of the ‘Reverie Series.’ It starts out in Vienna, a place that has always been a city of wonder for me. I was excited this story was continuing because I just love the two main characters, Claire and Lana. This time it is told in the first person from two points of view. Like before, there is another quick twist. Then the story unfolds.
Claire is full of light and is seeking higher meaning. In the beginning, she doubts herself and comes across as insecure. I found her to be very real and as I read, I felt a deeper understanding of her. She embarks on a journey to a foreign country. I was impressed the author chose this magnificent place.
However, Claire comes off as a bit obsessed with things. She can be a bit antsy and some of her thoughts stirred up emotions in me, intensifying the plot. However, she is lovable and as I read, I couldn’t wait for her next words.
Claire’s brother, David is back and he plays a much bigger role in her life. The brother-sister bond really touched my heart and the author clearly expressed it.
Lana is very rational. She can get through most situations smoothly. She comes off as being patient and doesn’t allow her emotions to take over. She is firm with her language and she impressed me as being a lady. I loved these traits about her and they deepened her character to another level. She is very mysterious which intrigued me.
There were times I really felt for her because of her insecurities. She tends to follow the crowd and doesn’t like to step outside her boundaries. She is a well put together character.
The antagonist, Greg, is in the story. He is self-centered and only cares about having his trophy wife and his business. He overreacts, and his words caused me to tense up.
The flow of the story is smooth and carries throughout. The author takes the reader on a journey to different places in the world. The way they are described, you will feel like she is guiding you on a tour and the descriptions of the scenery are excellent. The author enlightened me with culture and history.
What I also like is the depth of character development. I know everyone’s secrets and can see inside their heads. I applaud the author for touching on a spiritual awakening. This left a lasting impression on me and I’m glad I was able to witness it.
The dynamics between the two main players can be rough at times, causing intense drama. You won’t be able to stop turning the pages.
The subtle flirting will excite you. The romance is very hot and tender.
The mother-daughter relations for one of the protagonists made me angry. In the book, you’ll see what I mean.
Be sure to carve out about five hours to read; you’re not going to want to miss anything. It may even give you another perspective on things, like it did me. I am recommending everyone to read this book. It is unlike any other book I’ve read.
Here is an excerpt to get you started on this amazing journey. Enjoy!
Hoping still to find my phone I decided to use both hands. To do this I had to let go of my luggage. My suitcase didn’t easily keep balance on its own and fell straight to the floor. I bent down to pick it up and immediately my bag tipped over spewing the entire contents across the floor. Oh, great! When will I stop being so clumsy? Luckily, I didn’t have many items inside. “Do you need help?” I heard a polite male voice. I felt embarrassed and looked up at the person offering to help and barely managed to pull together few words. “No, thank you, I am fine.” Due to my embarrassment, my answer was passed in a cold tone. He really didn’t deserve it. I looked for him again to apologize but he’d left already. I managed to pick up all my belongings and placed them safely back in my bag ensuring all in the vicinity were watching and having fun at my expense. I knew it was silly to think like that, but I couldn’t help it. Then my luggage fell off again. Shit! How awkward! I looked around and felt relieved nobody was watching. Okay, concentrate, please! I must pull myself together. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes to calm down. I opened them feeling silly at getting angry about what had just happened. In the next moment, I froze.
My eyes lay on a young girl. She was walking graciously towards me. My jaw dropped as my heart went into overdrive. It was just like in the cartoons, with Tom and Jerry. This thought brought a smile to my face but I controlled it. She looked phenomenal. It wasn’t the clothes. She was dressed in casual blue jeans, a navy shirt, and All-star. It was the way she walked and her figure that left me speechless. She was average height and she moved her nicely proportionate body so elegantly. She was slim with amazing curves that would turn many a man’s head. I so wished I’d a body like hers. I wished, even more, I could hold that body in my arms. Her hair, mmmmmm, her hair looked amazing. I smiled at the thought of running my fingers through that long red curly hair. What a girl! I thought. I fell in love instantly. I forgot my suitcase and I was staring up at her whilst she approached. She must surely have noticed that she’d caught my eye. I wasn’t trying to hide it. God, she looked sublime. I was even more enamored when I saw a nice grin on her face. I wasn’t prepared. My cheeks were blushing already due to the whole spill-the-bag thing but her smile made my blushing even worse. It was without any doubt the most beautiful smile I’d ever seen. I tried to smile back nicely, but instead managed only a sheepish grin, which in any case was too late. She’d moved forward. Maybe her smile wasn’t aimed at me. Perhaps if it was, it might have been just for consolation. What was I doing? Was I now imagining I’m getting signals from all the girls who look at me, just because I knew now for sure what my sexual orientation is?
Enough with the embarrassment and with the girls for the moment. It wasn’t easy though to forget this gorgeous girl with awesome long red hair. I looked around to see where she’d gone, but it was impossible to spot her anywhere. There will be another girl out there for me. And when I meet her, I will never let her go. So now, back to my plans.
