Meet Author Bonnie James

Good afternoon, Friends and welcome. Thank you for stopping by last week for my book review for Pascal Scott’s ‘Hard Fall’. Today I am turning the reins over to author Bonnie James. Let’s welcome her.

I want to thank Lynn for inviting me to be on here today.

I have been trying to think of what to write. I think the best way to start is to tell something about myself.  I have been with my wife for twenty years.  I was married to a man before and I had four children.  I came out as a lesbian in my fifties and I have not been happier except when I had my kids.

I have always been interested in writing.  I wrote stories for my kids when they were in school and I would make up stories to tell them when we were just sitting around.  We lived with my mother mostly because their dad and I did not stay together very much.  She helped me raise them.

The way I came to write my first book was because I had read a book and I could not make heads or tails out of it.  My wife encouraged me to try to write my own.

I had always been told to think outside the box, so I thought why not write outside the box.  I am not what you call a typical writer.  It took me close to twelve years to get my first one finished and published, which I had help with.  I am what they call an Indy Writer, self-published.

I am like any other writer that has fans and some who don’t like my books.  I don’t write to please anyone but myself.  As any writer knows, it is not easy to sit down and write a book.

My wife tells me when I am writing she has to tap me on the shoulder to get my attention.  I think that must be true.

Now a little about the two books I have out and the third one I am working on. They are a part of a trilogy.  I didn’t plan it this way, but there was too much for one book.  All the characters are in each book.

1. Forever My Darling
2. My One True Love
3. Will be named Christy’s Wedding

It is taking me a while to get the third one written.  Everyday life gets in the way a lot.  I have had a cancer scare twice in the last year and a half.  My wife has had pneumonia twice since March.  Four years ago I lost my oldest son on the fourth of July. My oldest daughter had a heart attack.  Things like this mess with a person’s mind.  If it didn’t we would not be human.

I think it is finally getting to where I can get serious about finishing my third book.

In these books, I have a cat named Lovey.  She was real because she was ours.  She has been gone for three years.  She was my co-writer.  I had a Scotty dog named Kalie, she was our neighbor’s dog and she had to be put down the same time my son passed. Then I had another dog named Sambo who was my youngest son’s dog and it was put down just a couple of months ago.  Old age and pain caused it to be put down so it would not suffer.

The second book I added another dog and it is Beagle named Princess.  She was a real dog that belonged to my oldest daughter.  Someone poisoned her with snail bait.

In this third one, I am working on I have added a pet skunk named Skunky.  It is also real.  It belongs to my wife’s ex and her wife.

All of these pets are being trained to obey hand signals in the books.  They will also all be in Christy’s Wedding.  You’ll have to buy the book to find out what they will be doing.

I have told everyone that the sex scenes in the book have been tried, but not the one in the Limo.

I don’t know of anything else I can write about.  There is one thing more I just thought about.  You can see what I do on Saturdays on The Lesbian Book Nook.

I want to thank Lynn again for allowing me to share some of what I am like.

There is one other thing you should know about me.  I am an Ordained Minister.

Thank you all.

Bonnie James

I want to thank Bonnie for sharing with us today. You can join her on Saturdays from 12-2 p.m. CST for the ‘On the Spotlight’ show, which is in the facebook group, The Lesbian Book Nook. Here she interviews other lesbian authors. Her books are also available on Amazon.

Be sure to stop by next week when I’ll be presenting something new.

Until Next Time,

Namaste,

Lynn
