2020 – The Best Year Ever!
Thank you, Lynn Lawler for giving me the opportunity to be a part of your wonderful and entertaining blog. I appreciate being a small part of the outstanding work you do for our community.
To describe the year 2020, I would have to quote Charles Dickens, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of light, it was the season of darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair.”
For me 2020 has been the best of times. A wonderful woman approached me about coauthoring with her. Frankly, I wasn’t keen on the idea as I was struggling to meet my goal of releasing my 20th novel in 2020. She sent me a sample of something she had written, and I fell in love with her style and characterizations. The writing team of Morgan Elliot and Erin Wade was born.
Writing with Morgan I not only released Barbed Wire a historical fiction novel I’ve been working on for about seven years, but together we released two number one bestsellers, Kidnapped Heart and Never Speak of Tomorrow which reached number one in the US and internationally on Morgan’s birthday. Morgan said it was the best birthday present ever and I kinda’ liked it too.
Several people have asked me how I like coauthoring with Morgan, and I must say, I love it. It took us a while to meld our styles and we found we wrote best when each of us took characters and played off each other. In Never Speak of Tomorrow, Morgan wrote the thoughts, words, and reactions of Remi Navarro and Isabella Marquez and I did the same for Keaton Springfield and Carmen Tacona. The best way I can describe coauthoring with Morgan is “It is a trip.” I always looked forward to her emailing me the manuscript with her added chapters and the words, “The ball is in your court, now.”
As writers we found ourselves trying to create challenging situations for the other to work our MCs out of. Sometimes it was quite a challenge. I can say the book took turns I never anticipated, and I found myself eagerly waiting to see what Morgan had written. I was never disappointed.
Our wives were wonderful, endlessly proofing our stories and tolerating our all-night writing sessions.
I think that most fulltime writers would have to admit that the 2020 lockdowns and quarantines didn’t change our lives much. I love being at home in my office, writing and only leave when my wife insists, so lockdown wasn’t that different for me.
Sales went up because our readers were confined to home and escaped through our novels and audios. Knowing my readers were looking for a few hours of action, adventure, and romance to take them away from lockdown, made me work harder than ever to write for them. I want to take a minute to thank Victoria Mei for the dynamite job she did on expediting the narration of my books. She is simply the best.
Barbed Wire is a historical fiction romance set in the 1920’s in West Texas. It is about a woman and her family who struggle with the challenges of running a million-acre ranch in the Texas Panhandle. One must read it to the end to understand the challenges women faced in the early nineteen hundreds. “Barbed Wire” was my twentieth, #1 Bestseller. The audio by Victoria Mei was released on 10/23/2020 and hit #1 in Historical Fiction on 10/24 a spot it has held for thirty-two consecutive days as of 11/24/2020. Historical fiction is a new genre for me so I’m a bit proud of how well this book is doing. Frankly, I was a little afraid to release it because of the controversial subject matter. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0875L5JJM
Never Speak of Tomorrow is an action/adventure romance about gorgeous undercover DEA agent Keaton Springfield. Assigned to the Peruvian Task Force, Keaton deals with wicked, ruthless people who prey on humankind in the most despicable ways. To do her job she has locked her heart away to protect herself from the devastation she witnesses daily. Her investigation leads her to benevolent Professor Remi Navarro, and everything changes. Sparks fly, and their hearts knew that they must have been acquainted long before they met. Ignoring her head and following her heart Keaton falls deeply in love with Remi. Then one phone call hurls them into the abyss. Remi returns to the States for a family emergency and upon her return to Peru, her plane crashes deep in the Colombian mountains. To fulfill the family’s wishes to retrieve their daughter’s body, Keaton enlists the help of her sultry friend and former lover Carmen Tacona. What they find is shocking and leads them on an odyssey of epic proportions. If you like fast action and lots of romance, you will love this novel.
With the encouragement of my Very Beautiful Wife (VBW as she is known to my followers who call themselves Erin’s Waders) I began writing lesfic in 2014. In 2017 I released my first book, Too Strong to Die. I’m honored to say that after one week, on 2/1/2017 it was the #1 (Paid) Lesbian book on Amazon and has remained in Amazon’s Top 100 Paid Bestsellers for the past four years. Today it is #62.
I am fortunate to have an incredible team working with me. Julie Versoi is my right-hand, handling everything from beta reading to promotions to joining me when I make public appearances. She has been a God send and her little Yorkie, Beckham appears on the cover of my bestseller The Littlest Werewolf. VBW handles all my social media promotions and makes sure I stop to eat occasionally. Editor Susan Hughes and cover artists Julie Nicholls & Uwe Jarling are responsible for the beautiful presentation of my books.
Currently I am working on the next Java Jarvis thriller Mardi Gras Ghost due to release in February 2021. I’m trying to release it on the anniversary of Too Strong To Die. Wish me luck.
Mardi Gras Ghost will return the sexy ladies from SKIRT the FBI’s Serial Killers Investigative Resolution Team consisting of five beautiful FBI agents directed by Special Agent Java Jarvis and her wife Special Agent Kat Lace. Working undercover the team has a one hundred percent success rate and is only pressed into action when others fail, and local authorities request their assistance. If you liked Java’s first novel Two Ways to Die, you will love her in this second book of the Java Jarvis Series.
