Excerpt:
Given her flustered reaction, the woman knew who Sabrina was. The soft blush to her cheeks might come from the fact that it was really warm in the place, not that Sabrina was complaining. Not about the temperature, anyway.
“I don’t have a reservation. I was hoping I could talk to Mr. and Mrs. Connor?”
Realization dawned on the other woman’s face.
“The Connors sold the house and moved away five years ago. I’m sorry, but I don’t have a current address.”
“Okay…Don’t worry, that’s fine.” It wasn’t, not at all, but she couldn’t tell her. She’d have to regroup. Silence ensued as Sabrina was trying to come to terms with what she’d just learned.
“Who owns the place now?”
“That would be me. Excuse me, I’m being a terrible host. My name is Misty Duncan.” She reached out a hand. “And you are Sabrina Russell.” Usually, Sabrina felt a tad uncomfortable when someone spoke her name with this much awe, but she was tired and anxious enough to let it slide. At least, Misty Duncan was polite, and didn’t ask her any questions—yet—about failed projects. She was cute, making Sabrina feel a bit more forgiving.
“Yes, I am,” she confirmed. “This is a hotel now?” She’d been so single-mindedly focused on her mission she must have missed the sign—or it was covered in snow. That explained the multiple cars in the parking lot.
“A Bed & Breakfast,” Misty explained. “We left things as close to the original house as possible. This home is one of the most beautiful ones in town, and I knew I had to have it when I first saw it. I walked right up to the owners, and fortunately for me, they were willing to sell.”
So she didn’t know that this was Sabrina’s childhood home.
Since her first plan was out the window, Sabrina had to come up with a better one.
“Good for you,” she said with what she hoped was a convincing smile. “Could I have a room?”
“Oh Gosh, I’m sorry again. We’re all booked. I just gave away the last one, minutes before you arrived.”
The couple she had seen earlier must have snatched it. Was it her destiny to always have the worst timing possible?
“That is…unfortunate.” Don’t you know who I am? wouldn’t work here. Misty Duncan knew who she was, and she’d still made her point. “You don’t happen to have a couch somewhere I could sleep on?”
For some reason, that made Misty even more flustered. Sabrina couldn’t deny she enjoyed it, or at least, would have enjoyed it more under different circumstances. She needed a place to stay, and she needed to come up with an offer Misty couldn’t refuse—which was a lot more difficult than negotiating with the Connors would have been. Misty had launched a business here, a successful one from the looks of it. Sabrina suppressed a sigh.
“I could ask around,” Misty offered. “While you’re waiting, how about a hot chocolate?”
“Thank you. I’ll take you up on your offer, but no drink. I’ve been traveling all day. I need to get into a room as soon as possible.”
“I understand. Have a seat over there,” she pointed to a couple of armchairs next to another decorated tree. “I’ll make some calls.”
Sabrina thanked her again, walked over to the armchairs and sat down, suppressing a relieved sigh at the immediate comfort. She closed her eyes for a second, nearly dozing off in the warmth surrounding her. She took in the decorations on the tree, delicate spheres and stars made from glass, and…wait a minute. She got to her feet, determined to raise the subject, when Misty appeared in front of her. Sabrina could tell that she didn’t have good news.

I love a feel good holiday book. This book is one of those feel good make you smile books. The characters are interesting and likable. Magic of the holidays makes you want to visit Pinedale. Thanks for a perfect holiday book.

I am sure that whoever reads this story will love it. There’s no secrets to find, no lying or cheating to upset the apple cart. Just a great story about the miracle of Christmas.
When you read this you are going to be inspired to make Christmas great again.
